 +====== Proxy Navigation ======
 +Open Mobile for Windows communicates to a number of network destinations using HTTP. Open Mobile customers that use proxy servers may have proxy rules in place that block this communication without corrective action. It is essential that the various updates, Mobile Insight reporting traffic, and management traffic be allowed to occur as designed for proper performance of Open Mobile. This guide covers the supported Proxy environments for Open Mobile.
 +
 +=====Updates=====
 +Open Mobile uses HTTP for downloading of updated iPass hotspot and customer network directories, to receive configuration changes made to its profile, and to receive new software versions. It also uses HTTP to upload connection records for reporting purposes in the Open Mobile Portal.
 +
 +=====Internet Detection=====
 +The Open Mobile client uses an HTTP request to determine if the user has established an Internet connection. It is critical for the client to be able to detect this to be able to initiate a VPN connection, enforce rules specific to Internet connections, to launch post-connect event actions, and for connection reporting for the portal.
 +
 +=====Proxy Exceptions=====
 +For support of the Open Mobile solution, outbound routing, firewall, and proxy exceptions that allow this communication must be made on the customer’s network. For a full list of URLs and IP addresses that Open Mobile uses and requires access to, see [[required_configurations_for_open_mobile_access|here]].
 +
 +=====Alternate Internet Test=====
 +The Open Mobile Platform does enable a customer to configure an alternate URL for the Internet detection test. If a customer’s proxy would block this outbound HTTP request, an alternate URL can be configured that is accessible inside the customer’s network (an internal server).

 +===== Proxy Handling Matrix - Updates =====
 +The following table shows the various Open Mobile versions and their ability to navigate proxy servers with HTTP communication for updates:
